Armine Poghikyan, the Senior Program Manager Flagship Language Programs of the American Councils for International Education, and Ashford Njogu, the Senior Program Officer African Languages Overseas Flagship Programs, visited the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 to answer some of the questions that the Yoruba Flagship students had with regards to the Yoruba Flagship Overseas Program. Armine spoke about her recent visit to Ibadan, Nigeria and Zanzibar, Tanzania with Ashford Njogu and Professor Antonia Schleicher. She presented information about all the places the Yoruba  Flagship students would spend their summer and year abroad programs.

Armine assured the Yoruba Flagship students of the support of the American Councils handling all their overseas logistical needs in Nigeria. Dr. Robert O. Slater, the Director of the National Security Education Program, and Ms. Sharon Nishizaki, the program director for the Language Flagship at the Institute of International Education (IIE), visited the African Languages Center University of Wisconsin-Madison on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. It was an inspiring visit for the Yoruba Flagship students as well as the Yoruba Flagship workers that were present. We appreciated how they were open, friendly and willing to answer any questions our students had. They were genuinely enthusiastic to listen to our students when they introduced themselves and hear their thoughts on the program.
