2018 Indiana University LCTL STARTALK Professional Development Program


STARTALK is a summer professional development program for teachers in Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTL). Are you interested in expanding your knowledge of teaching LCTLs? If so, you should attend this summer professional development program.

LCTL instructors will be selected to participate in this three-week intensive summer program.


Details:


What: An intensive three-week program that will allow you to participate in professional development that will focus on quality instruction, curriculum and assessment for various  LCTLs such as Arabic, Dari, Hindi, Korean, Persian,  Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu.

Who: This program is open to both current and new teachers of the previous mentioned LCTLs.
Where:The program will take place at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.
When: Program dates are: July 9-27, 2018. {July 9 -13, 2018 (One-week Non-Residential online program), July 16-27, 2018 (Two-week Residential program in Bloomington, IN)}
Cost: Each participant selected for this program will receive:
(i) Reimbursement of NCOLCTL Online Course fee ($150)
(ii) Accommodation for the two-week residential program.
(iii) $450.00 (maximum), travel reimbursement for all out of town participants*
(iv) A Certificate of Completion upon successfully completing the program.

Applicants should submit:

a)      A letter of Application by filling the form below

b)      Supporting documents for the program which should include:

I.       A Resume

II.      Statement of Purpose.

III.    Two letters of recommendation indicating the importance of the training for the applicant.

Note: One of the letters must be from the executive officer of the applicant's home department or African studies program or the Program’s Language Coordinator. The deadline for the application submission is June 8, 2018. And all supporting document must be turned in by June 8, 2018.
